Founded on craftsmanship, artistry, and community, Border & Square has become a trusted name in the framing business throughout Utah. Founder Kheng Lim moved to Provo from Malaysia in 2013 to study art at Brigham Young University. After graduation, Lim gravitated toward artisan jobs in residential painting, carpentry, and eventually managing a framing shop. What began as an obsession with artistry evolved into a deep passion for framing and design.
In 2018, Lim launched Border & Square from a modest backyard shed, handcrafting wooden frames one piece at a time. As demand for his work grew, so did the business. That small workshop transformed into a proper storefront and gallery space where thoughtful artistry, masterful design, and customer service remain at the center of every project.

Border & Square stands apart through its vertically integrated business model, allowing the company to efficiently craft both mass-produced designs and remarkable bespoke creations — a duality not offered anywhere else. From sourcing high-quality lumber to collaborating directly with interior designers and collectors, the team oversees every step of the process with precision and care. Whether a client is framing a cherished family photograph, an original artwork, or an extensive private collection, Border & Square provides tailored solutions for a wide range of budgets and styles.
Attention to detail defines Border & Square’s specialized approach to wood framing. The team carefully considers every design element, from matching wood grain with the movement of a painting, to careful collaboration with interior designers to find the right frame for a home’s unique composition. Rather than rushing through production, Border & Square goes above and beyond by prioritizing craftsmanship and personalized service to ensure every finished frame feels intentional
and enduring.
Beyond the storefront, Border & Square remains deeply connected to the local arts community. The company regularly participates in events throughout Utah Valley including the Provo Art Stroll held on the first Friday of every month. Through local partnerships, community fundraising efforts, and support of local artists, Border & Square continues to create exceptional frames that preserve the stories and creativity behind the art.
