Utah Film Center kicked off a weekend of celebration marking the grand opening of its new home—the Geralyn White Dreyfous Building in Salt Lake City’s Marmalade District. Festivities began Friday evening with an energetic VIP Reception, where more than 100 supporters gathered to toast 23 years of creativity, community, and big-screen magic—and most importantly, a permanent space for the film center.
Guests were greeted with cocktails and local bites while exploring the newly transformed space—a 1950s simple cinder block structure reimagined with the stunning design work by local designer, WOW Atelier. Every detail of the building has been thoughtfully designed to spark storytelling and connection.
A highlight from the evening was stepping into the Black Box Theater—an intimate cinematic space where dark velvet curtains and custom seating set the stage for future film screenings. Spiritual and gospel music from the Salt Lake City Mass Choir filled the room, offering a joyful tone before filmmaker Nicholas Ma (Won’t You Be My Neighbor? and Leap of Faith) gave a heartfelt thanks to all who helped bring this new home for film to life. utahfilmcenter.org
