The Sundance Film Festival is an opportunity for creativity across all mediums. From directors to influencers, composers to videographers, this time of year for many is a time to let their personal style shine. Here are some fashion highlights from the first day of Utah’s last Sundance.
Statement Coats are a Sundance Fashion Must-Have
For those planning on being on Main Street all day, layering is key. A statement jacket or scarf can add a pop of color to a utilitarian outfit. ”I get so many compliments on this jacket,” Sreb Noeva, a festival attendee visiting from Los Angeles, said. “It’s a jacket I got from Zara ages ago.”
Marietta Harte, a Miami, Fla. native, said she loves fashion. I just think this jacket looks very Sundance-y,” the first-time attendee said. She recently made the move from Miami to Park City, and said she is still getting acclimated to the cold. As for her personal color palette, Harte said she gravitates to “mostly neutrals.”

Teal’s Got Some Serious Appeal
Earlier this month, Salt Lake magazine predicted teal’s rise in 2026. So far, Sundance fashion observations are backing that up, and coincidentally, shuttle route 50 in Park City is the “Teal Express”. Arizona State University graduate and aspiring filmmaker Charlotte Duncan rocked a teal bomber jacket in the press line for director Daniel Roher’s film “Tuner.”

Meanwhile, Filmmaker Kat Whalen was also seen rocking the color. She said her outfit’s intention was “comfort and vibrance.” As for the rise of teal? Whalen said she had “no idea” about the phenomenon.
