We sure know how to pick ’em. Silver Star Cafe’s “LaBounty Bourbon Ice Bomb” cocktail was featured in our July/August issue, and now LaBounty’s drink has won 1st place in the Park City Area Restaurant Association’s Summer Cocktail Contest.

Mixologist Jeff LaBounty’s cocktail beat out 20 other drink entries, a big deal in รผber-hip Park City.
The cocktail is a creative construction of a hollow ice sphere injected with Sugarhouse Bourbon, Bianco Vermouth, Warre’s 10-year port, house-made balsamic syrup and black walnut bitters. A fresh peach slice garnishes the drink. The server presents the drink, taps the ice sphere, and a flavor explosion ensues.
โI hadnโt quite seen anything like this before โ it was really cool, and tasty, too,โ PCARA executive director Ginger Ries said. โThanks again to all the restaurants who competed and all the fans who voted online and made this such a big success.โ
Jeff LaBounty, creator of the winning cocktail, will be awarded $200 for his creation. He will also be featured in a marketing campaign forย the PCARAโs fall โDine Aboutโ event. Oh, and he gets some hard-earned bragging rights.
โJeffโs cocktail is really just so much fun: itโs whimsical, itโs creative, itโs surprising, itโs totally different than just about anything youโve seen. This is very cool, and it absolutely deserves the top spot in this yearโs competition,โ Silver Star Cafe owner Lisa Ward said. โWe thank everyone who cast their ballots, the PCARA for hosting another stellar competition, and we canโt wait to welcome folks to try Jeffโs standout creation.โ
