Film Screening at UMOCA: Matthew Barney’s ‘Redoubt’

As an extension of our current exhibition, Moving Pictures, the Kimball Art Center is partnering with the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art to bring you an exclusive screening of Redoubt—a film by contemporary artist Matthew Barney, whose work is currently on display at the Kimball Arts Center. The screening at UMOCA will be held on Jan. 31, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The film by acclaimed artist and director Matthew Barney, creator of the CREMASTER Cycle and the film opera River of Fundament, unfolds as a series of hunts in the wilderness of Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains. The characters communicate a mythological narrative through dance, letting movement replace language as they pursue each other and their prey.
