The Utah Museum of Fine Arts hosted their annual Young Benefactors Acquisition Dinner on Nov 4 from 6-9 pm, during which attendees enjoyed cocktails, conversation, and a catered dinner, and voted to decide which piece of artwork would be acquired for the Museum's modern and contemporary art collection. The guest of honor was Angela Ellsworth, whose work, Seer Bonnets X, XI, XII , was acquired in 2010, and UMFA Chief Curator Jill Dawsey gave a presentation at the event. This year's winning nomination was Jann Haworth's Charm Bracelet, a nine-foot sculptural piece originally created in 1964 and remade in 2004. Haworth is a Holly-wood born, Sundance-based artist and Grammy-winning co-designer of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover (1967).
Artwork (2009 YB Acquisition): Chakaia Booker, Discarded Memories, 2008, purchased with funds from the UMFA Young Benefactors and the Phyllis Cannon Wattis Endowment for Modern and Contemporary Art, collection of the UMFA, University of Utah
