The McCarthey Family presented the Women on the Move Luncheon, raising more than $130,000 for the National MS Society, on Feb. 23. The event, held at the Grand America Hotel, started with a reception and silent auction. OC Tanner donated a black pearl and white gold pendant necklace, modeled by Miss Utah USA and Miss Teen Utah USA, for the consortium, and a boutique with crafts and jewelry vendors donated 40 percent of all proceeds to the MS Society. KUTV news anchor Mary Nickles emceed the luncheon and shared her story of fighting cancer and her empathy for those with a chronic disease like multiple sclerosis. Couple, Ryan and Sonia Ren shared their story of Ryan's diagnosis of the disease shortly after his father died of it, and master of ceremonies, Phil McCarthey, discussed advancements made in MS research. Paletti highlighted spring fashions in a show at the event, featuring models from the shop and those living with MS.
