Ugly Sweater Party
Photos by Preston Gallacher
The Utah Heritage Foundation raised about $15,000 for historic preservation advocacy for buildings and neighborhoods throughout the state at the Ugly Sweater Party at Snowbird's Cliff Lodge on Sept. 21. Guests came dressed in ugly, and sometimes elaborate, sweaters and ski outfits and enjoyed music by Red Rock Hot Club and classic Utah foods like funeral potatoes, green Jello, ambrosia salad and buffalo burgers, along with locally-brewed beers. The event was in conjuction with the foundation's Salt Lake Modern Tour, which included a tour of Snowbird with architect Ray Kingston. The foundation is focusing on mid-century modern architecture this fall, and Snowbird, which just turned 40 years old, is a prime example of this style and the only modern ski resort in Utah.
