The Utah Museum of Fine Arts held a black tie gala to kick off the Speed: The Art of the Performance Automobile exhibit for nearly 500 guests on May 31. VIPs were welcomed to the event early with keynote speeches from Speed guest curator Ken Gross, executive director Gretchen Dietrich, Governor Gary Herbert, Ambassador John Price and Mrs. Marcia Price on the importance of the exhibit. All guests got a sneak peek at the collection of 19 of the world's fastest automobiles from the past century, including the record-setting 1938 Mormon Meteor III. Culinary Crafts served signature Duesenberg Daiquiris, while Benjamin Johnson and his band played to entertain guests. The exhibit is on display through Sept. 16.
