The Children's Center Gala

The Children's Center held its Soar With the Children Gala, raising more than $350,000 to support children at the center, at the Gallivan Center on June 14. More than 500 guests came to the gala, which has been held annually for more than 30 years, to support the center's mission to provide comprehensive mental health care to kids and families. The night's hot auction times included a meal for eight by Viet Pham, Iron Chef winner and Best New Chef in America according to Food and Wine; a NASCAR pit experience; and "36 Children Paint a Daylily," a work of art created by children at the center under the direction of Gary Max Collins and John Collins. Guests also enjoyed food donated by Nicholas and Company and prepared by Blended Table. Event volunteers, from as far away as Japan, folded 1,000 paper cranes for the event to wish good luck, happiness and good health to the children, guests and event supporters for 1,000 years.
