Thousands of runners and cyclists came from all over Utah for the first-ever Utah Marathon and Fittest State Festival on Oct. 13. Marathon runners started in downtown SLC and went to the Avenues before heading to East Millcreek and looping back to SLC. Nathan Hornok from SLC had the best time at two hours thirty-eight minutes. Other races included a half marathon, bike tour, .4-mile Kids K and The Crazy Legs 5K, where runners were encouraged to wear costumes. An expo was held at the Sheraton Salt Lake City Hotel, which included sports and health exhibitors.
