The Family Counseling Center Centennial Gala

The Family Counseling Center marked 100 years in the SLC community and honored Elizabeth Smart, who has spoken out for others like her who have suffered severe trauma, at the Centennial Gala held at the Grand America Hotel on Nov. 3. Guests enjoyed dinner and a silent auction, which helped raise about $140,000 for the center. Smart accepted the Legacy of Hope award and discussed the importance of hope, paying tribute to friends and family. Scott Haws of KSL-TV was the evening's emcee, and both Executive Director Kate Della-Piana and Chairman of the Board Robert Boyd gave keynote speeches. The evening also honored three of the center's therapists, Dick Macfarlane, RaNae Rogerson and Marty O'Donnell, with Legacy of Service awards. Kurt Bestor performed three songs for Smart at the event and dedicated one to her father, Ed Smart. Afterward, guests hit the dance floor to the tunes of The Ken Foster Trio.
