Huntsman Cancer Foundation Gala and Survivorship Celebration
Combined with the recent golf tournament, Huntsman Cancer Foundation raised $1.7 million for cancer research at the Gala and Survivorship Celebration at the Grand America on Oct. 25. Guests were greeted at the hotel with hors d'oeuvres and drinks on their way to the silent auction, featuring items ranging from Super Bowl tickets to a custom-made diamond bracelet from Payne Anthony. After the auction, guests enjoyed dinner in the Grand Ballroom hosted by KUTV2 news anchor Mark Koelbel. Huntsman Cancer Institute CEO and Director Mary Beckerle updated guests on cancer research findings, and BYU Coach Dave Rose's wife Cheryl, the late Brent Manwill's wife Susana and current patient Dov Siporin's family Tara Steel, Matan and Siena Siporin gave emotional tributes to the foundation. Jon and Karen Huntsman expressed their gratitude to guests and accepted a check from Anthony Sanfilippo from Pinnacle employees for $500,000. After dinner, the Anne Striba Cancer Foundation Survivorship Celebration chaired by Peter Stirba was held in the adjoining ballroom with music, dancing and drinks.
