The American Heart Association raised $16,000 for heart disease and stroke research and education at the seventh annual Go Red for Women Luncheon at the Marriott at City Creek in SLC on April 27. Close to 350 people came to this year's luncheon, almost doubling last year's amount. Guests enjoyed a silent auction and a keynote address from Bountiful resident Deni Hill, who lost 125 pounds as The Biggest Loser's at-home challenge winner. Melissa Mendez, whose daughter Emma suffered a stroke at age 13, also shared her story of her daughter's survival. Guests also watched an impactful video highlighting heart disease warning signs and the fact one in three women die from the condition.
