Founded in January 1911, The Rotary Club of Salt Lake City commemorated 100 years of service at the 2011 Centennial Celebration at the Salt Palace Grand Ballroom on Sept. 20. The evening opened with a reception, followed by dinner. The Rotary Club honored this year's Rotary Heroes, multi-generation Rotary families and six community leaders who exemplify the Rotary Club's motto of "Service Above Self" in an awards presentation. Guests also enjoyed entertainment from Michael Ballam of the Utah Festival Opera Company and a capella quintent, Crimson Five. The Rotary Club of Salt Lake City has more than 300 members and is one of 33,000 clubs in 165 countries worldwide.
