The Rape Recovery Center raised more than $74,000 to help victims of sexual violence at An Evening of Inspiration Healing & Hope at the Emma Eccles Jones Conservatory on April 26. Three auctions were held to raise the money, including a live auction hosted by X96 "Radio From Hell" co-host Gina Barberi, featuring luxury items like a private dinner for eight prepared by Chef Adam Kreistle of Chai Cucina. A silent auction was held with items donated by local businesses, along with a silent art auction with work from Utah artists like Trent Hall, Pat Bagley and Florence Ware. The first-ever Pillar of Hope Award was given to State Representative Jennifer Seelig, who sponsored a bill allowing those trying to escape sexual and domestic violence in dating relationships to get protective orders. Melinda Smith, who works as a Hospital Response Team and Rape Recovery Crisis Line volunteer was given the Volunteer of the Year award.
