Salty Cricket Composers Collective and Wind Quintet Presents "Blowin' in the Wind"
Tickets purchased July 10 are half price!
A Utah-based wind quintet, all of whom are Utah Symphony musicians, will offer a pleasant and melodic concert this Thursday evening at the Ladies Literary Club Building, as an introduction to the world of modern classical music. Those new to the modern classical scene will get a taste of minimalistic, post-romantic, impressionistic and other accessible flavors of the modern age, while veterans will appreciate the wide range of talent presented.
Pieces performed written by Utah-based composers Ester Megargel, Margot Glassett Murdoch, John Newman, M. Ryan Taylor, Nicolet Singleton and Josie Twining.
The quintet features Utah Symphony's Principal Flute Mercedes Smith, Principal Clarinet Tad Calcara, Assistant Principal Oboe James Hall, Principal Bassoon Lori Wike, and Horn Llewelyn Humphreys.
The concert, curated by the Salty Cricket Composer Collective, an organization dedicated solely to the advancement of living Utah-based composers, begins July 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ladies Literary Club Building located at 850 E. South Temple.
Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for students or seniors, and are half price if purchased before end of day Wednesday July 10. For tickets click here, or call 801-652-0737. Purchase also available at the door.
