On Saturday, July 12, you can run a 5 or 10k dedicated to your hero.

The race goes from 8:30–11 a.m. at Kiwanas Park in Provo. Beginning at the park, you will run by Seven Peaks Water Park, up the road toward Slate Canyon, and back down by JDawgs, finishing again at Kiwanas. Coming from a runner, I’d put in a surge and pass people on my way up 700 North. You can check a map for both the 5 and 10k on runforahero.com.

Come dressed as your favorite superhero and with your favorite everyday hero in mind to write on your race bib. Each runner will have a chance to dedicate his or her personal hero.

The winner of both the 5k and 10k will swagger home with a Planet Fitness 6 month pass. Other runners might pocket one of 10 Quarry day passes, including equipment, or a Bendtec Home blender. Don’t fret though, if you don’t win a prize, all runners will receive free leg massages from DoTERRA, essential oils and all.

All benefits go to Friday’s Kids Respite, an organization that provides a safe place for children with disabilities to be babysat for three hours every Friday night. Volunteers interact and play with the children, while medical personnel take care of medication and other needs. Your race registration, or donation, makes you a hero, too.

Register at runforahero.com, the 5k is $20 ($30 day of), the 10k, $25 ($35 day of), and kids 12 and under are $15 ($20 day of).
