Springville Museum of Art's Children's Art Festival
What better place to soak in this summer’s local art than Art City itself, better known as Springville.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, June 13, the Springville Museum of Art is throwing their annual Children’s Art Festival on the lawn in front of the museum. You'll find face painting, balloon animals, scavenger hunt, and a live DJ, all for free. Some of your favorite food trucks will also be there: Waffle Love, Art City Donuts and the Corndog Commander.
If you can’t make it today, Springville Art City Days runs through June 14. Similar to other “City-Days” around Utah, there will be rodeos, fireworks, a hot air balloon festival, and of course, a bit of art.
Ok, this one's not in Springville, but still worth mentioning here: On Saturday, June 21, visit the Sun Tunnels to celebrate the life of Nancy Holt, famous sculpture and land artist. If you don't already know, the Sun Tunnels are one of her greatest installations. Large concrete tubes at the Salt Flats light up every year during the summer solstice (which happens to be June 21).
If you are looking for teen activities, consider The Happening, at the Springville Art Museum on June 25. The event includes live music, dessert, T-shirt screen painting and other art projects for high school students.
