Strong Porsche showroom
Owners of Strong Auto Group, Brad and Blake Strong, grew up in the car business.
During the Great Depression, their grandfather L.H. "Roy" Strong opened a Studebaker franchise in Logan, later moving to Ogden to open a Packard dealership. In the 1940s, he built a showroom in downtown, SLC where he started selling Hudson automobiles.
Dave Strong started working for his father Roy when he was 14. He continued working while attending classes and playing basketball at the University of Utah. When Roy had to retire for health reasons, Dave had to leave school to run the business. It wasn't long before the manufacturing of Packards, Hudsons and Studebakers ceased, but luckily, Roy had the foresight to purchase a Volkswagen franchise before he retired. As the Volkswagen Beetle became a hit among Utah drivers, Strong Volkswagen was born.
Years later, Dave later opened Porsche and Audi franchises, working side by side with his wife and business partner Merle. As they built the Strong Auto Group, they also built a family with five children. Being a man who finished what he started, Dave finished his education at the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.
Brad and Blake got their start washing cars in their early teens as well. As time went on, they learned the ins and outs of running and operating a dealership. They bought Strong Volkswagen from Dave in 2002, and subsequently acquired the Audi and Porsche dealerships in 2004 and 2011 respectively. Recently, they opened Porsche Design, selling luxury men's and women's fashion, active wear and accessories, at City Creek Center.

Now, the third-generation business is running smoother than ever.
One reason for Strong's success is a commitment to customer care. Strong Porsche's Red Carpet Client Care program is a perfect example. With the purchase of a new car, customers receive a number of complimentary benefits, like winter and summer tire storage to paintless dent repair, and leather touch ups, for the life of the vehicle.
Recently, Strong Porsche remodeled the whole dealership, including service, parts and sales, making it one of the first generation 4 Porsche Factory dealerships in the US. The showroom now holds 12 cars instead of four, and the service center has expanded.
Along with selling cars, Strong Auto Group is involved in the larger community, supporting local sports teams, along with the Kimball Arts Center and Ballet West. The company also sponsors 5Ks and other events to support local nonprofits and youth sports.
Some of the luxury vehicles available through Strong this year are the Porsche 911 and Spyder 918, the 2014 Porsche Macan, and coming this March, the Audi A3.
