I just returned from a lovely lunch at Bambara, one of the consistent jewels in Salt Lake's dining scene, and one of the first restaurants I ever visited when I first came here. At that time Scott Blackerby, whom I knew from Nana Grill in Dallas, was chef. Bambara has had its share of terrific kitchen executives. And it's still part of Kimpton, a pet-friendly boutique hotel group.

I still remember Art Cazares who ran Bambara for a good while and was such a genial and generous host. As it happens, Art's other passion, besides hospitality, is in the spotlight today. His gorgeous Golden Retriever, Samantha, is competing at the Westminster Dog Show. Talk about Olympics.

So, here's good luck to the two of you art, from your SLC friends.

UPDATE: Samantha was Awarded Best Opposite Sex, Which means she was the top bitch amongst goldens today, and the number two winner behind the best-of-breed.
