Making the time to find eco-friendly products gets tough, especially if we don't even know where to look (or what's actually a sustainable product). Earth Goods General Store is here to help. Recently relocated to Salt Lake City, this earth-friendly store offers a variety of household products, clothing, baby items, pet supplies, and gifts.

Owner Thom Benedict has a background in theater arts and environmental education, and he was the executive director of HawkWatch International. So what brought about the Earth Goods General Store? "I wanted to start a business that was part of the solution, and Salt Lake City felt right," Benedict says.

Earth Goods General Store competes with stores like Whole Foods by promoting local artisans and providing quality customer service. "We have some overlap with others stores," Benedict says. "However, the benefits we offer, such as personalized customer service and more sustainable choices, set us apart."

The store also participates in fair trade products such as coffees and chocolates, which are perfect for customizable gifts. In fact, if you're looking for a unique gift, check out their locally handmade clothing and jewelry options.

Thom Benedict has some advice for those of us who are trying to be more eco-friendly. He says, "Don't feel like you have to fix the world by yourself. It's the little things that add up—turning off the lights, recycling, and conserving water. Just take small steps."

Earth Goods General Store is located at 327 East Broadway, SLC.
