We've done a ton of research on the best stuff you could do this Halloween, and one of our faves for the kids is Tracy Aviary's Halloween Hoot.

Going to Tracy any time of year is a great idea, but it's particularly great this time of year. Instead of focusing on their stomachs, kids will be learning (of course, Emil the Owl will be still be offering some candy.)

Bring them on Oct. 26 or 31, anytime from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The day includes a bird encounter and a story time, along with a guided tour of the aviary with a surprise ending. In the Chase Mill, kids can paint pumpkins, make autumn sun catchers, create their own pine cone bird feeders and create take-home bird masks. They can also write letters to Andy, the aviary's Andean condor, and find answers on his Facebook page later.

Anyone in costume will receive 50 percent off admission. If you didn't bring a costume, take advantage of the face painting at the Hoot.

Tracy Aviary is located at 589 E. 1300 South inside Liberty Park. Click here for more info.
