Weve been highlighting our top finds from the Outdoor Retailer Summer market. Visiting the different pavilions one thing was clear: high tech products aren't just for humans. Some great gear was unveiled at Outdoor Retailer for our four legged friends.
Some of the most hi-tech material and sleek designed outerwear was seen at the Hurtta booth. The above lightweight jacket is ideal for keeping dirt and mud outdoors and snow away from fur.
Were very excited for this hand's free leash that is available in September. Adjustable length from 3-5ft this is ideal for those times when you need to access your phone while walking the dog.
The pros at EzyDog had some of the best leash and pack designs that we have seen yet including this combo. The Summit Backpack has removable compartments, a padded handle to lift your dog, and a leash caddy to hold his own leash. The Vario 6 leash features a swiveling carabiner and three clip locations so the leash can act as a long lead, hands free lead, traffic lead, double lead, long tether, and a short tether. EzyDog products are carried locally at The Dogs Meow in SLC and Love Your Pet in Park City.
The veterans of the outdoor pet products Ruffwear showed us their 2014 line of dog shoes (available now) and a brilliant water bowl that has a bladder that lets out as much or as little water as your dog needs at a time.
They also showed us the Ruffwear Swamp Cooler Vest, a high tech cooling vest to prevent dogs from overheating; just wet the vest and place it on your dog before setting out on a hike or walk. Ruffwear products are available from Backcountry.com and REI.
Newcomers Tuenne wowed us with their water proof collers and climbing rope inspired dog leashes.
Why we love it: for wiggly active dogs that are constantly getting muddy and wet having two contacts to attach the leash is a must. Also a plus, the industrial design of the O ring made out of anodized aluminum and ergonomic silicone/TPU coated waterproof webbing mean this gear is built to last for many seasons.
