The fresh-skinned, hot-lipped, minimalistic, all-natural look has really caught fire this year, and it has women everywhere thanking the heavens that it's finally OK to step out looking a little less done up. Finally, less is more.
If you once upon a time vowed to never leave the house without fake lashes, let alone eyeliner and lots of mascara, the relaxed months of summer supply the perfect chance to try this look out and save yourself a little time in front of the mirror. And, believe it or not, you only need five products and about five minutes to do it.
1. Tinted Moisturizer - Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream, Sephora
Start with a clean face and apply tinted moisturizer or BB (stands for Beauty Balm) Cream. With the multitasking power of a product like this, you can pretty much kick all your other face makeup to the curb. It hydrates, it covers, it protects and it prevents. Who could ask for anything more?
2. Cream Shadow in a neutral color - Smashbox 'Limitless' Cream Shadow, shown in Riches, Nordstrom
A soft pink, coral or gold shadow is simple and naturally stunning. Just one shade (or a mixture of two applied as one) is enough to get the job done. Cream shadow is easy to apply with a brush or gently pat on with your ring finger, and in this case, a little goes a long way.
3. Lash Defining Mascara - Maybelline Define-A-Lash, Target
Because we're going completely natural, opt for a defining mascara, rather than a volumizing formula. The fewer clumps, the better. If you're already blessed with dark lashes, you could even go for a clear mascara (like this one, by CoverGirl), just to give the lashes a little extra definition.
...but what about eyeliner? If you feel you absolutely must have liner, apply it with a brush as close to the lash line as you can get, and start with a thin line that blends with your lashes. Just remember, the goal here is to enhance your natural beauty in the simplest way possible.
4. Bronzer/Cheek Tint - Tarte Park Avenue Princess Bronze & Glow Matte Bronzer & Cheek Tint, Ulta
It’s super sunny out, so don't be afraid to break out the bronzer. I prefer a cream solution because I feel like I can control and blend it a little better, but the powder variety works great, too. Apply it lightly only to the areas of the face that the sun hits when it's directly above you: forehead, cheekbones, bridge of nose and chin.
5. Lip Stain/Stick/Gloss - Palladio Lip Stain, Got Beauty
Whether you go with a stain, a stick, a gloss or whatever suits your fancy, just get some color on that kisser. A stain is a good option because it doesn't look as thick as lipstick or as shiny as gloss. And you only have to apply it once then reapply your gloss throughout the day. Win.
