Flying through the air to Van Halen's Jump might seem cliche, but thats exactly what we did at The Wairhouse Trampoline Park (3653 S. 500 West, SLC). It's a rush soaring from trampoline to trampoline at the park, and if you've never been able to reach the rim before, get ready to dunk like Lebron.
Chris Steele started the park with his family after they found one in Las Vegas a couple years ago and fell in love with the concept. Steele then visited about 20 parks across the country to get ideas. Now, he runs the Wairhouse with his wife and two sons. Unlike other local parks, The Wairhouse has a few extra safety rules, like one person per trampoline at a time (not that you'd have a hard time finding an empty one) and a required safety video before jumping.
The park has 15,000 square feet of trampolines, with two dodgeball courts, a foam pit, basketball hoops and a section just for kids 7 and younger. "We did a big one," Steele says. "This place is 10,000 feet bigger than most parks."
Once kids get sick of jumping, there's a cafe and an arcade. Parents who'd like to sit it out can chill in a lounge area with sofas and a TV. But it might be a good idea to jump around for those looking to lose the spare tire. "You can burn 800 to 1,000 calories an hour just by jumping around," Steele says.
The Wairhouse also has five rooms set to host kids' birthday parties you can reserve (with 10 guests, $225 for a party host, set-up and clean-up or $125 for a self-hosted party). Lately, the trampoline park has been offering an early-bird special—half price between 10 a.m. and noon. For other specials, sign up to receive texts when you go.
