Many Utahns are heading north to celebrate Idaho Wine Month this June, and for the 5th Annual Savor Idaho.

Idaho wineries, restaurants, stores and wine shops will offer specials on wine and wine merchandise for Wine Month. The actual Savor Idaho event is sold out for 2013, giving consumers the opportunity to savor the best food and wine Idaho has to offer. It takes place June 9 at the Idaho Botanical Garden in Boise and over 900 guests will be in attendance.

Idaho has emerged as a major wine-producing state because of its long, hot days and rich volcanic soil. In 2012, Idaho gained national recognition from The Washington Times, SIP Northwest Magazine, and the Chicago Tribune. June wine events began in 2009 to spotlight and celebrate the growing popularity of the Idaho wine industry.
