Ever counted the stars of the paramount pictures logo? Count 'em from the real mountain.

Elevation gain: 3,000 feet
Distance: 14.8 miles round trip
Time: Five hours
Trail: This isn't the toughest of our picks, but it's the most rewarding when it comes to vista payoffs. Much like Paramount's famous logo, you can count the stars from atop this peak as well.
Who you'll see: Folks out for a quick day trip in their tennis shoes soon to find the switchbacks and steeps never end.
How to get there: Highway 134 east through North Ogden to Liberty; get on 3300 North and take a right at the fork in the road. Once in North Fork Park, head toward the stables and look for the trailhead signs.
Notable: The money shot here isn't just the peak. About two miles up the trail, a waterfall comes down from Cold Spring. From there up, the steep singletrack is offset by vistas unparalleled.
Eco-conscious: Be aware of the multi-uses of this trail (especially near the bottom: horses).
Best time of year to go: Early fall, before first snowfall.
Apres-hike: Two-bit Amber from Rooster's Brewing Co., Ogden, 801-627-6171
