I realize it is easier to just purchase a pre-made pie dough, but nothing is better than homemade, every single time. At Cuisine Unlimited, we have some tricks that make our dough simply delicious, flaky and yes, easy.

Here are our tricks: Refrigerate all your ingredients, including the flour for several hours before preparing. Only use pastry flour or all-purpose flour. Bread flour has too much gluten and cake flour is too soft.  We use a combination of vegetable shortening and butter. Don’t over mix the shortening/butter into the flour. Substitute sour cream or heavy cream for the water. For an added touch, sprinkle cinnamon, nutmeg or ginger into the dough if making a fruit pie. That little touch adds so much flavor. Before baking, refrigerate your pie for 30 minutes before placing into a pre-heated oven. Now, sit back and enjoy the raves for the best pie ever.
