The 2013 Sundance Film Festival is coming up, and in an effort to cater to locals, Sundance is letting Utah residents register for their tickets early.

Here's how it works: From Nov. 6 to Dec. 17, locals may go to the website and register. Registrants will receive a randomly assigned time slot for Jan. 5–6, at which time they may purchase their individual tickets for the Festival. Time slots are randomly assigned to accommodate the volume of requests, and ticket sales in January will be online rather than in person.

In addition, Best of Fest tickets (free to Utah residents) and Townie Tuesday tickets (free to Summit County residents), will be available at box offices in Park City, Salt Lake City, Sundance Resort and Ogden. Those tickets can be picked up starting Jan. 12.

Important dates to remember for individual ticket purchasing:

Nov. 6, Individual ticket registration starts

Dec. 17, Individual ticket registration closes

Dec. 20, Utah residents who registered receive a time slot for ticket purchase

Jan. 5–6, Ticket sales take place online

Jan. 12–13, Locals-Only ticket pick up days at Park City, Salt Lake City, Sundance Resort and Ogden box offices.
