Last Wednesday evening, a smiling pixie skirted in hoops of champagne glasses greeted me and other guests as we sipped bubbly, noshed on fare from local restaurants and admired what $5 million can do to transform a whimsical, slightly silly décor into a something as equally playful but definitely more grown-up chic.

Hotel Monaco revealed the new look of its glamorous, somewhat cheeky interior—lobby, meeting rooms and stylish suites. Bold colors, punchy patterns and eye-catching elements of tufting, luxe lighting and shapely furnishings flourish promising to make a visit to the hotel a treat. Here’s just a small sampling of our favorites:

Hoops of champagne glasses (and the smiling woman wearing them) greeted me and other guests as we entered the soiree.

A curvy, high-backed settee, ideal for lounging or a fun photo op, greets guests as they enter the receptions area boasting a custom desk upholstered in faux crocodile leather.

Fanciful lighting fixtures illuminate the high-style lobby.

Two ultra chic display of mirrors frame the lobby's fireplace while adding light to the hip, living room-like space.

Designer Susan Caruso of Intra-Spec Hospitality designed the guestrooms to look like a treasury of favorite items from around the world assembled by a seasoned world traveler.

Bold pops of color animate every suite. Deep blue walls make mod white mirrors pop while lipstick red finishes, ivory mock crocodile fabric and high-sheen lacquered furnishings create undeniable glamour.

Througout the hotel, deep onyx and navy carpets come to life with an assortment of  architecturally inspired geometric elements in red, gold and powder blue.

Modern lighting elements perform like functional jewelry throughout the hotel.

And in every room, there is a gold fish. Mixing high-fashion with fun, Hotel Monaco is a stylish place that doesn't take its decor overly seriously, and that's a part of its unique charm. Whether it's an overnight stay or a walk-through on the way to the in-house, award-winning Bambara Restaurant, a visit to this newly renovated hotspot will make any design devotee smile.
