FlowRider Utah invites you to expand your knowledge of diverse sports by attending the 2012 Pepsi World Flowboarding Championships presented by World Class Bodyboards on Oct. 12 and 13.

Held in one of the top FlowRider venues in the country, Ogden's Salomon Center, this community event is open to the public and will have a host of other festivities including concerts, free entertainment and a free meet and greet over the course of the two days.

Flowboarding, a type of indoor surfing involving a stationary floor that acts similar to a real ocean wave is a little known sport, but it's growing. “During the past five years, flowboarding has experienced phenomenal growth, pushing the sport to new heights,” says FlowRider Utah manager Shaun Hancock. The World Championship in Ogden may prove to grow the sport even more.

Boasting top international competitors and teams from Europe, Asia and the United States, never before has an event like this been held on American soil.

More than 6,000 spectators are anticipated to watch the battle for the prestigious world championship title. World titles will be awarded in several different categories including Junior Flowboard and Bodyboard, Female Pro Flowboard and Bodboard and Men’s Pro Flowboard and Bodyboard. There will also be a pre-world amateur competition on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 6 to 10 p.m. that costs $40 to participate in the first division and $15 for each additional division. The fee includes a practice session before the event.

Those who need more than intense sporting excitement to convince them to attend can also expect a festival village, high-flying acrobatics, juggling, sword-swallowing, comedy and more. Royal Bliss will be entertaining visitors on that Saturday with their special guest, the Codi Jordan Band, at a ticket price of only $10. Tickets can be purchase here
