A team of chefs from the Talisker Restaurant Collection received accolades June 5 in Nicholas & Company’s fifth annual Ultimate Chef Challenge at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy.

Three judges let their taste buds decide the winner after a 90-minute, five-course meal.

To wow the judges, the team, headed by executive Chef John Murcko, prepared a nettle and mushroom tea sandwich followed by a micro-green salad with mushrooms. The delicious entrees to follow were a soft shell crab with uringi mushroom and beef cheeks with smoked shitake mushrooms.

For desert, the judges enjoyed porcini ice cream and almond cake.

Talisker’s director of wine and spirits, Sean Marron provided wine pairings with the meal for the judges.

This isn’t the first win for Murcko; he was also champion in 2009 and was a semifinalist for the James Beard Awards earlier in 2012.

At the event, Murcko was joined by the executive chefs from Talisker on Main and Bistro at the Canyons—Briar Handly and Zeke Wray—to create the winning meal.

Salivating readers don’t just have to dream of this enticing menu, because guests can order from the chefs themselves at Talisker on Main (515 Main St., Park City) The Farm at Canyons (4000 Canyons Resort Road, Park City) and Slopes by Talisker (inside the Waldorf Astoria Park City at 2100 Frostwood Dr., Park City).
