The Color Me Rad 5K made its way to Utah Valley University over the weekend, raising money for the university’s scholarship funds and giving Utah County a splash of color.

The race was sold out—all four waves from 9 to 9:15 a.m.—and so much traffic was making its way to campus, many runners missed their wave. To accommodate, Color Me Rad added a wave at 9:45 a.m. for stragglers.

After all, it wasn’t about who finished first, but about getting sprayed with water and then having Kroger brand, colored corn-starch thrown at you, while running 3.1 miles around UVU, which luckily, doesn't include any huge inclines.

A representative of Salt Lake magazine was there for the race. Team name: One Man Wolf Pack.

At check in, participants received a Color Me Rad T-shirt, one pack of color and sunglasses. The run also had a DJ playing hits, henna tattoos and a snow cone truck.

Of course, the highlight was seeing all of the beautifully, colored people who had run the course. Even though they were worn out after the run, the Color Me Rad crew did a good job keeping the party going all morning.

In the end, One Man Wolf Pack finished in the middle of his wave. Now with sore legs and blue fingernails, he can’t wait till next year to outrun all the little girls who beat him this year.

Color Me Rad returns to Utah next spring.
