We highly recommend Art Access/VSA Utah's new painting class for kids, which starts Tuesday and is nearly full. Meanwhile, check out Fiddler on the Roof playing this weekend at The Children's Theatre.

Kindred Spirits from Art Access/VSA Utah

Art Access/VSA Utah offers Kindred Spirits classes to kids whose actual or cognitive age is between five and 13 years of age. Parents have called Kindred Spirits the best art classes around for kids, and the spring session doesn't have much room left.

Sign your kids up for Explorations in Painting.

The six-week class explores many painting styles, where kids will learn about visual elements like line, texture and color, while creating beautiful masterpieces. They'll also get painting inspiration from famous artists like Joan Miro, Jackson Pollock, Paul Klee, Jasper Johns, Chuck Close and Frank Stella.

Classes run Wednesday, May 2–June 6 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., registration is $50, which includes all art supplies (no fee for parents to tagalong).

Fiddler on the Roof at The Children's Theatre

Along with Flash Gordon Conquers The Evil Planet, The Children's Theater is going  a bit more "traditional" this weekend by showing Fiddler on the Roof. And while Flash Gordon tickets are $12, Fiddler tickets are only $8.

The play follows Tevye, milkman of a Jewish village in early 20th century Russia, as he attempts to maintain his religious values while the world changes around him, three of his daughters get married, and the Tsar decides to evict the Jews.

Of course, this version is made for kids to follow very easily.

Show dates:

April 28, 7:30 p.m.
April 30, 7 p.m.
May 3, 7 p.m.
May 5, 7:30 p.m.

The theater is also accepting summer camp applications. Click here for more info or to sign up.
