OK, fine. I get it. We don't live by the ocean. We don't have waves fit for surfing or soft sandy beaches dotted with seaweed or... sharks, but we do have the Great Salt Lake. And thanks to it, we have plenty of options for getting out on the water (and a smelly warning every time it’s about to rain.)
If you’ve never chartered a sailboat onto the lake, this is the year to do it. Stripes, sunhats and sunscreen are trendy this summer, and a nautical adventure would go perfectly with all three.
First, you’ll need a boat. Captain JR at Great Salt Lake Experience can hook you and five of your friends up with a day trip or a sunset sail in his 27-foot sailboat, Nauti Girl. Visit the site to schedule your adventure.
You’ll also need to look great, because you should look great everywhere you go. Here are a few suggestions to take care of that:
Afternoon Boating Dress, Bohme, $38.50
Band of Outsiders Boat Stripe Top, bastille, $275
Dalliance Sunhat, Anthropologie, $78
Don’t forget to take along a few essentials (you know, sunscreen, bottled water, a light jacket, an umbrella in case of rain) in this Tommy Hilfiger rugby stripes tote ($81 at Macy’s) and you’re set to sail!
