City Creek, City Creek, City Creek. It's just about the only thing we've heard about for the last week. And it's no wonder, folks from across the state turned out to take in the parties, shopping and scene at SLC's newest mall. About 60,000 folks a day. That's a lot of folks.

Before shoppers began popping in and out of new-to-Utah stores like Tiffany & Co., Coach and Michael Kors, lining up for lunch at Red Iguana Two and hitting department store staples Macy's and Nordstrom, behind- the-scenes crews from local caterers like Cuisine Unlimited helped make all the grand opening events even more grand with brightly colored cupcakes, impressive sushi platters and cheese platters featuring the ever-popular coffee encrusted Barely Buzzed from Beehive Cheese Co.

Maxine Turner, president of Cuisine Unlimited, and her company catered the big hoopla— City Creek Center's Opening Gala on Wednesday—along with events for Tiffany & Co., Macy's and Bebe, among others. “What a fun week we had being involved with the celebrations,” Turner says, noting her team even upped their fashion quota for the festivities. “Our staff, in their new uniforms, were right in step with the fashionistas.”

Hope that fashionable staff left their heels at home in favor of comfortable kicks. With 38 buffets and 38 beverage stations nestled among the rock walkways and waterfalls, they were certainly doing their fair share of running around the night of the gala. “We were expecting 2,500 people to attend, [but] the numbers increased virtually overnight,” Turner notes. “It [was our] largest celebration in Salt Lake City since the Olympic Games.”
