Salt Lake kids may not know it, but their jolly old elf is a she. Margaret Putnam, manager of consumer affairs at the Salt Lake Post Office, is Santa Claus. She continues the nearly century-old tradition of answering letters addressed to Santa Claus at the North Pole. (Nationwide, more than 150,000 letters pour into the Post Office, each expecting a personal response.)
SLC’s Ms. Claus does the best she can with the help of fellow postal workers. She says she follows “a basic rule of parenting: never promise anything!” and says, “Evidently, kids think of Santa all year long, because we get letters almost every week.”
That address again? Santa Claus, North Pole. Send it ASAP if you want a response by Christmas!
