OK ... where to start. Feeling Christmasy yet? You might as well be. It's fast-approaching, folks. Here's the best of the holiday-tastic options around the valley this weekend and a few Yule-free events tossed in as well.
If you don't want feel the holidays Friday and are not going to a Christmas party, head down to the State Room for the Ocote Soul Sounds, a funky, Latin-flared jazz-rock outfit. Yeah, their music is a bit tough to describe, which makes me more likely to enjoy it. The Chickens open up the 9 p.m. concert. Tickets are $12. Check out their sound right here:
Also, bluesrocker Tony Holiday headlines a triple-bill at The Urban Lounge on Thursday night. Tickets will be available at the door.
Also, a '70s-style good time is to be had between now and Dec. 31 up at Park City's Egyptian Theatre as the theatrical classic "Jesus Christ Superstar" rolls into town with the original Superstar savior, Ted Neeley. This promises to be a fun time and worth the drive, especially with not much snow flying yet. Tickets are on sale right here.
Another Christmas classic is in town, this one at the Capitol Theater as "The Nutcracker" runs through Dec. 31. There are multiple shows each weekend.
Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door.
