Despite what some may think, classical music can be hip and new, and there are quite a few living composers right here in the Beehive. Where would one find these composers you say? Look no further then the Salty Cricket Composers Collective. Their tag line is "crunchy, savory new music to assimilate your auditory pallet. Experience the collective."  In a nutshell, they are a new music ensemble that performs the works of living composers who reside in Utah.

If you are intrigued, you're in luck because they have an upcoming performance titled A Plethora Of Pierrot on Dec. 14.  Arnold Schoenberg shocked the music world in 1912 and forever altered the course of classical music with his song cycle Pierrot Lunaire. Salty Cricket recreates this now-standard ensemble with an evening of works for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, optional voice and percussion added for a little pizzazz.
