This Saturday is the last Downtown Farmers Market in Pioneer Park for the season.
Don't cry, though. The Market is going out with—well, not a bang, because it's apt to be more of a slow roast—but a sizeable celebration anyway. Tomorrow night, October 19, the Farmers Market and Edible Wasatch will co-host a seasonal pig roast and party in Utah Fair Park.
I'm excited. Like every foodie, I'm a big pig fan. My favorite State Fair Food this year was not the gimmicky deep fried butter, or even the fried Oreos (which are pretty good), but this:
I mean, yum, right?
Ryan Lowder, Executive Chef at Copper Onion and new project Plum Alley (and host of a remarkable anniversary party Monday night—blog to come) has teamed up with local rancher Christiansen's Hog Heaven to cook every edible bit of one unlucky pig.
Liberty Heights Fresh, High West Distillery, Creminelli Fine Meats, Ruby Snap, and Uinta Brewing Co. are all pitching in with menu additions, there will be live local music and wine/beer/food pairings.
Go here for tickets to the Head to Tail BBQ; they're $25. Or gamble if you must—there will be a very limited number of tickets available at the door.
