Wow, it's actually going to be a really beautiful weekend.

Get out and enjoy the fall air, the colorful leaves and some great events all around. Start the weekend with The Wizard of Oz at SLCC's The Grand Theatre, then let the kids get up close to big rigs to see how they opperate at the Junior League's Touch-a-Truck Family Festival. Lastly, make sure to go to the zoo this weekend for Orange-Utahn finger paintings and Wolf Awareness Day.


The Wizard of Oz at The Grand Theatre

See Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion in "The Wizard of Oz" at Salt Lake Community College's The Grand Theatre. Instill, reignite or further promote a love for musical theater in your children's hearts by coming to see this classic performance. Shows run all weekend at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10-$24 each, family packages available at $48. Parking is available on State and the east side of the campus.

Touch-a-Truck Family Festival

Kids of all ages can touch, climb, explore and learn about the real world versions of their favorite Tonka trucks! The festival is all about big rigs, construction vehicles, emergency response vehicles and more are at your child's fingertips. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, or $20 for a family (up to six people). Hogle Zoo OrangeUtahn Art Show and Wolf Awareness Day

Did you know that Orangutans paint? Artists Even and Acara, two Hogle Zoo residents paint original masterpieces all the time. And their work will be on sale as part of a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the conservation of wild organutans.

The auction will be held at Hogle Zoo on Saturday, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Bring the kids to see real wolves! Take a look at the zoo's beautiful wolves as keepers try to raise awareness of their importance. The care staff will interact directly with the wolves, and there will also be activities available, staff to answer questions and presentations at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
