Last year’s Dew Tour brought the likes of Shaun White, Ryan Sheckler and Bucky Lasek to Energy Solutions Arena, and this year more of the world's best BMX, motocross and skateboard athletes will descend on Salt Lake City.

Shaun White at last year's Dew Tour in SLC

Starting with an autograph signing tonight (Sept. 7) from 5–7 p.m. at the Gateway, the Dew Tour will run to Sept. 11 and acts as the semifinal to the Las Vegas finale.

Currently the 2009 champion, Bucky Lasek, is battling out the skateboarding vert comp with reigning king Pierre-Luc Gagnon while snowboarding crossover Shaun White trails in third place. The winners of the past two BMX Park events, Scotty Cranmer and Kyle Baldock are only two wins away from being crowned champion of the tour. The street comp features a mixed bag of pro skaters—lead by the Nike-sponsored P-Rod.

Back when I’d ride the mini-dirt ramps at Tanner Park, I imagined myself alongside pros like Ryan Nyquist. The fact that he’s still among the top competitors in the Park comp—and has been for the past fifteen years—explains why he’s called a legend.

Of all the pros at the tour this year, SLmag is most stoked to see Ryan Nyquist and Bucky Lasek tear it up. Bucky was Tony Hawk’s right-hand man (and #2 piece) in The End, and has been a fixture in the skateboarding community for over a decade. It’s great to see young stars push the sport, but starting this Thursday, we wish Ryan and Bucky the best.
