This week's options may seem a tad scarce, but that's only because there were worthy shows to check out all weekend long and now it seems like a drop-off, but that's to be expected.

That being said, Monday is highlighted by having of the biggest pop stars on the planet bringing her "California Dreams" tour into Salt Lake's EnergyS olutions Arena. If you like high-energy dancing, big hits and lots of extras, this is your show. Perry's talent is pretty undeniable and it'll be interesting to see if she lives up to the hype that's swirled around her since 2007.

Tickets start at $30 and are still available.

And don't forget Monday night offers one more chance at baseball and fireworks when the Salt Lake Bees host Tacoma on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. To some, baseball season seems like it goes on forever, but trust me, there haven't been as many good chances to see the Bees this year as normal because May was such a cool, wet month, so enjoy it while you can folks.

A decidedly lower-key option than Perry's concert, and with about one-1000th the number of teenagers, is available to concert-goers on Wednesday night when Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers bring their diverse brand of rock into Red Butte for what should be a night of top-flight musicianship.

Not only does Hornsby, pictured above, take a back seat to no one on the piano, but banjo virtuoso Bela Fleck and his supremely talented band the Flecktones are the openers in what should be a cool night of tunes under the stars. And as all my Deadhead buddies will tell you, Hornsby played quite a few concerts with Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead back in the early '90s, and he still plays some of that band's material from time-to-time. A handful of tickets are left. They start at $42 and remain on sale at Red Butte's website.
