Pi Day, The Ides of March, St. Patrick's Day - it's a packed week.

Obviously, today - 3.14 - is Pi Day. The 22nd annual, in fact. It would also seem obvious that there's really only one place to celebrate Pi Day: at The Pie.

The infamous Ides are Tuesday this year and there's an obvious celebratory dish for the day: Caesar Salad. Because the only reason anyone knows anything about the Ides of March is because Julius Caesar was warned to beware of it. Hail yours, properly prepared in the old way, tableside for two, at Cucina Toscana. This is especially appropriate because Valter Nassi is, undoubtedly, Salt Lake City's Emperor of Italian Food. Ave atque vale.

This week's Wonderful Wednesday dinner at Zucca Trattoria is all about pizza and beer, none of which, thankfully is green: Instead, you'll sip on Uinta seasonal and Crooked Line beers (like the Leia Bell-labeled one that graced our Jan/Feb cover) and Chef Elio Scanu's own version of pizza. Here's the menu; this is not beer and pizza like you're used to...

Thursday, of course, is the 17th, St. Paddy's own day, and for that one day the Blue Boar in Midway goes green, serving Irish-inspired dishes including potato and watercress soup, traditional style soda bread and a traditional Irish salad. (Whatever that is. Maybe potato?) Choose corned beef and cabbage, Guinness braised short rib, roasted salmon with Irish whiskey cream and mussel in garlic and stout. For dessert, Chef Eric May will offer Irish cream chocolate cheesecake and chocolate molten cake with caramel cinnamon sauce and Irish cream. The Blue Boar also offers an extensive list of Irish whiskeys and beers. Call 888-650-1400 visit theblueboarinn.com.

Don't forget, we already have a pig the correct hue in SLC: Stop in at the Green Pig for some of their excellent chili verde, and you've got St. Patrick's color covered, any day of the year...

And Friday, you can change hues entirely. Head up Emigration to Sun and Moon Cafe, SLC blues central, for a tasting of red wines. From 6-9 pm, a flight of three reds from different vineyards (only $15) will be paired with small bites (only$12) created to complement. Wine expert Alexa Johnson will guide the tasting. Call 801-583-8332 for reservations.
