Seattle author Richelle Mead has only written one young adult series. Her others also involve the supernatural: the Georgia Kincaid series about a reluctant succubus and Dark Swan with otherworldly suitors stalking a shaman.

But her most dedicated fans are into the Vampire Academy series, which we actually think is a lot cooler than books with similar themes...cough cough Diaries and Twilight.

Mead's newest in the series, Last Sacrifice, came out last week. On Wednesday, she'll be at the Main Library to sign copies and meet fans.

Last Sacrifice is the sixth in a story about two races of warring vampires the Maroi (who wield elemental magic) and the Strigoi (evil ones who love killing). Rose, confidante to a Maroi princess, is training to defend the race against the Strigoi and romances with her instructor.
