W hen she was just 17, Solissa Welden began working in the fashion industry and quickly realized it was a labor of love. So when she moved to Salt Lake City in 2005 and noticed a need for a shop with unique and well-priced fashion, she didn't waste any time. Three weeks after moving, her namesake boutique Solissa opened in Sugar House.

Since then, the shop has become a favorite among local fashionistas thanks to an affordable selection of women's clothing, footwear and accessories, plus one-of-a-kind pieces made exclusively by Solissa out of vintage textiles.

"I am grateful that consumers are conscious of buying local," she says. "I want to reward that with service, service service!. What you put out there is what you're going to get. I work hard and stay positive.

Solissa's personal service and close relationships with clients also keep them coming back for more. "I listen to my customers and always consider them when I buy," she says. "I make sure that shopping is fun, and makes women feel good about their bodies and who they are.

"Retail therapy," she laughs, "is contagious."
